The most famous of the SCTV characters, McKenzie brothers Bob (Rick Moranis) and Doug (Dave Thomas) were created to fulfill the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's request for Canadian-oriented programming on the show. To the cast's surprise, the sketch became wildly popular.
